NDC Youth Group Total Force petitions party over the changes made to its leadership in parliament

A youth group called Total Force of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region, have petitioned the Northern Regional Executives of the party in protest against the new reshuffle of the minority caucus in parliament.

According to the group, the action by the leadership of the party led by chairman Aseidu Nketia is a calculated attempt to deny the party victory in the 2024 general elections, hence the protest.

Convener of the group Abdulai Ibrahim Danaa, who addressed the media on behalf of the group said, “It is obvious from this action and many others that, whereas the rank-and-file works in our constituencies, the leadership at the party headquarters continue to adopt unpopular measures that failed to crown our efforts with victory in the past two general elections.”

He indicated that the decision is a clear witch-hunting from two in-secured “greedy souls”.

He further explained that, “In as much as we acknowledge that it is your responsibility to carry out such duties, we also expect a more responsible approach to carrying out your duties in such a manner that will clear all doubts and ensure party unity at all times. We hate nobody but we believe the leaders of NDC today do not know their assets.”

Mr. Ibrahim Danaa stated that, the Tamale South lawmaker Haruna Iddrisu is a major asset to the NDC party and must not be sidelined for any individual gain or personal scores settling. “The NDC party will need their best in the quest for victory in the 2024 elections where Haruna Iddrisu is indispensable,” he added.

He said the members of Total Force will continue to impress upon all youth groups to reject any explanation from the party headquarters, “if this poor judgement of yours goes on to deny the NDC party a well-deserved victory in 2024”.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Deputy Treasurer of NDC Suhuyini Yaalana, who received the letter on behalf of the Regional Executives pledged to forward it to the appropriate authority.

RE: NOTICE OF CHANGES IN THE LEADRESHIP ON THE NDC PARTY IN PARLIAMENT

                                                                                                                          TOTAL FORCE NDC

                                                                                                                          TAMALE N/R

                                                                                                                          28TH JANUARY,2023

TO: THE FOUNDERS OF NDC

GHANA

Ladies and gentlemen of the media, we TOTAL FORCE invited you here today, hopefully to register our

displeasure and send a strong warning to the party hierarchy through you,

The leaders and members of TOTAL FORCE – A youth group in the Northern Region covering over six

constituencies have red your letter captioned as above with reference number; NDC/HQ/56/114 dated

23rd January, 2023 and we wish to categorically reject it as another calculated attempt to deny the NDC

party victory in the 2024 general elections. It is obvious from this action and many others that, whereas

the rank-and-file works in our constituencies, the leadership at the party headquarters continue to adopt unpopular measures that failed to crowned our efforts with victory in the past two general elections.

We shudder to think the recent sad internal development is a clear witch-hunting from a two in-secured

greedy souls. The party’s rank and file anger reached the crescendo when Mr. Kwesi Pratt spilled the

beans that: the former President, H.E John Dramani Mahama has advised these two self-serving

Leaders to have a second look at that “unholy” decision in order to give room for further consultations.

If that statement from Mr. Kwesi Pratt is indeed true, then H.E John Dramani Mahama is extricated. In

other side of the coin, it’s a sheer disrespect on the part of Aseidu Nketia and Fifi Kwetey. How could

they have disregarded the advice proffered by the torchbearer and prospective Flag-bearer of the NDC?

In as much as we acknowledge that it is your responsibility to carry out such duties, we also expect a more responsible approach to carrying out your duties in such manner that will clear all doubt

and ensure party unity at all times. We hate nobody but we believed the leaders of NDC today do not

know their assets. Hon. Haruna Iddrisu is no doubt a major asset to the NDC party who must not be

sideline for any individual gain or personal scores settling. The NDC party will need their best in the

quest for victory in 2024 elections where Haruna Iddrisu is indispensable. We in TOTAL FORCE will

impress upon all youth groups, to reject any explanation from party headquarters if this poor judgement

of yours goes on to deny the NDC party a well-deserved victory in 2024. We shall rise up to fight any individual or group within the party whom we will perceive to have a hand in any defeat of the party

next time.

The leaders and members of Total Force believe that this action of Asiedu Nketia and Fifi Kwetey

is a deliberate personal vendetta under the guise of party strategy; What is so urgent to demand such a

drastic change? Are you changing them to disadvantage them in the upcoming constituency primaries?

Why couldn’t the party wait till after the primaries? Why couldn’t you get the MPs whose leaders they

are, to agree with you but rather cause a stare that has brought several MPs questioning your sincerity?

When was this action decided? Where was it decided? Moreover, is like our national executives are now

telling we NORTHERNERS or DAGOMBA’S to stay away from the party because,

  1. HE. JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA is a Gonja,
  2. CHIEF SOFO AZOKA also a GONJA,

 3.MALIK BASINTALI also a Gonja,

The national executive council (NEC) should tell us where they wanted us to go. Should we stay away

from the party?

The leaders and members of TOTAL FORCE and many other party faithfuls’ are asking the above

questions because we are privy to the meeting at Bole when party executives attended the funeral of the late MP, Mr. Joseph Saaka Akati who passed away on December 13th 2022. We are aware that the removal of Haruna Iddrisu and the sidelining of the elected executives of northern region NDC were among the issues discussed. Again, TOTAL FORCE shall bring the news of Bole’s meeting to all party youth groups so that together we shall demand explanation whether Bole is the new party headquarters

under Asiedu Nketia and Fifi Kwetey. It is more curious to note that such a major decision like the one carried in your letter was not tabled at the NEC meeting where the parties’ election calendar was agreed upon. What are you hiding Mr. Chairman General?

Chairman Nketia and Secretary Kwetey you are both very intelligent people but your answers to

questions to the media since 23rd January, live much to be desired. Is the national campaign team going to be led by parliamentary leaders? What happens when each of them goes to defend their

constituencies? In fact, the poor judgement from the functional executives of the NDC has embarrassed every NDC members and today we are a laughing stock in the country, Ghanaians are wandering if NDC is credible alternative in Ghana. In this regard we in TOTAL FORCE demand an apology from chairman and secretary, we also demand a proper resolution of this matter to unite the party for victory in 2024.

The easy way is to leave the party but TOTAL FORCE will not be pushed out by two people, Haruna

cannot be defeated by just two people. Hon. Haruna shall stay and work for the party he loves so shall

Total Force. However, remember; “If you send a child to God, he will return, just that you may not

recognize him”

THANK YOU.
