National Service personnel in Tamale and Sagnarigu oriented on the Scheme and its benefits to the nation

The Northern Regional Directorate of the National Service Scheme has organized an orientation workshop for the 2019/2020 year group of National Service personnel within the Tamale Metro and Sagnarigu Municipality.

The objective of the one-day programme was to among other things; encourage service personnel to give out their best at their posted institutions, educate them on work ethics and also the sharing with them; reasons for undertaking national service.

Addressing the gathering, mayor of Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior said the intention of the national service scheme is to offer opportunity to personnel to having practical exposure on the job in the public and private sectors.

He urged the service personnel to see their postings as a duty to contributing to the sustainable development of Ghana.

The Director of Corporate Affairs at the NSS, Armstrong Esaah, in an address, announced that management of NSS with support from the Presidency, has introduced an initiative to reward hardworking personnel who would travel abroad to complete their national service with a foreign user agency.

He said NSS has in the past three years undergone massive transformation and restructuring such as the certificate delivery system, paperless registration and the NSS market place initiative which affords personnel to buy essential needs at an affordable price.

For his part, the Northern regional director of NSS Rev. George Gado assured the personnel that, their allowance would be paid in time.

He however warned that this would be based strictly on the submission of the duty forms and urged personnel to submit the forms on time to avoid delays in payments.
