National Data Centre of Electoral Commission is Troubled – Haruna Iddrisu

The Minority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament Honorable Haruna Iddrisu has alleged that the National Data Centre of the Electoral Commission of Ghana is troubled and cannot accommodate further data unless it is upgraded.

He stated that, the Special Budget Committee meetings since 2017 has allocated funds for the upgrade on the request of the Electoral Commission but that has since not been done. This he says is part of the reasons for the slow pace of the online registration and network challenges in the ongoing limited registration exercise.

The Minority Leader made this revelation when he visited the Tamale Metro Electoral Commission Office to monitor and inspect progress of the ongoing limited registration exercise.

Haruna Iddrisu requested the Electoral Commission to publish daily records of the registration segmented into online and offline registrations and the number of persons challenged across the country.

He further requested for the EC to add more registration centres to reflect the diversity and size of the constituency (Tamale South) as done in the other parts of the country particularly in the Ashanti Region, he said.
