Nanton MP calls for calm after Saturday disturbances in Nanton township
The Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency in the Northern Region, Hon Dr Mohammed Sherif Abdul-Khaliq, has condemned the recent disturbances in his constituency.
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, a violent clash erupted between two youth groups in Nanton. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of one person and several people also got injured.
In a press statement, the MP called for peace in the community.
“I appeal to all residents in Nanton to remain calm and allow peace to prevail. Let us not allow this tragic event to divide us.”
“I further urged the security agency to act with the utmost professionalism to ensure the restoration of peace and to build confidence within the community.”
