Nana Addo never abandoned John Mahama roads in Savannah region, Issah.

The Savannah Regional Communication director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mohammed Issah has rubbished claims by the NDC that the Nana Addo government have abandoned road projects initiated by the John Mahama government in the Savannah region.

According to him, “there is no single road that was stopped since 2017, instead, they have either been continued, upgraded/re-packaged, or terminated and re-awarded for serious contractors to execute”.

The Savannah regional organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Inusah Abdulai on Tuesday 14th, September, 2021 in a press statement said the recent flooding in parts of the region is as a result of government’s decision to abandon the construction of roads started by the previous NDC government.

However, the NPP Communications director in a press statement disputed those claims and mentioned that, “Major roads like Tamale Salaga Mankango and Salaga Bimbila roads that were dashed to Ibrahim Mahama a brother of the former President was abandoned for 2 good years until it was terminated painfully in the 3rd year. Today, we have several contractors on those major roads working tirelessly to finish”.

Below is the full statement.

THE JOBLESS NDC ARM-AIR EXECUTIVES OF SAVANNAH REGION MUST GET OUT OF THEIR INCURABLE IGNORANCE ON ROADS.

I read on the media the purposeless effusions of the arm-chair executives of the NDC in the Savannah Region. In the said statement, the Regional Organizer and the NDC puts out blatant falsehoods garnished with unforgivable ignorance. Why such a major political party in the Region chose to disgrace themselves and the Former President John Mahama is still a misery.

Firstly, it is not true that the Nana Addo-Bawumia led NPP government has abandoned the roads started by the erstwhile government under the Former President. There is no single road that was stopped since 2017, instead, they have either been continued, upgraded/re-packaged, or terminated and re-awarded for serious contractors to execute.

Major roads as the Tamale Salaga Mankango and Salaga Bimbila roads that were dashed to the blood brother of the then President; Mr. Ibrahim Mahama was abandoned for 2 good years until it was terminated painfully in the 3rd year. Today, we have several contractors on those major roads working tirelessly to finish.

Some 2 other roads that were cut-off by the recent floods are the Busunu-Daboya and Tuna-Kalba roads. These road projects as referenced by the NDC were dashed to another blood brother of the former President; Mr. Peter Mahama under the NDC.

The man has since done a very poor jobs that left the roads washed off even before completion. On the Busunu-Daboya for instance, the contractor and his engineer have since admitted that they put in inappropriate culverts that exposed the road to floods. They have hurriedly run back to the said portion to cover up their poor job.

How any sane person will blame this on a government that has since paid almost every single certificate raised by Mr. Peter Mahama on that road is a misery.

At backyard of the former President, Bole-Bamboi Constituency, the Siripe-Dakrupe road that is near cut-off is one other shoddy job that has exposed the previous NDC. As heartless as the Mahama led NDC government was, that very road contract was awarded to a surrogate of the then Roads Minister, Hon. Inusah Fuseini.

The said contractor succeeded in putting out substandard culverts that has seen the people of the area in perpetual agony till date. The Nana Addo government has since re-packaged the road for reconstruction.

The NDC in the Savannah Region appears to have forgotten that they left power not too long ago. They have forgotten so soon that Former President Mahama was MP, and all the way to Vice President and President over the same roads they are complaining about.

They have enjoyed all the political sympathies of the people and had 8 good years to finish them if it was that easy to do it but failed. Let the NDC stop insulting the people of the Savannah Region.

The most illogical argument is when these noisy executives of the NDC claim the yearly ritual of floods into farm lands closer to streams and rivers was attributed to abandoned road projects. Such bizarre conclusions can only come from these perpetual cynics.

For the avoidance of doubt, there’s no single road that was started by the former President and his NDC that is left unattended to. May I reiterate some of the major roads that are ongoing as continued and new projects in the Region; Salaga-Bimbila, Salaga-Kpandai, Tamale-Salaga-Mankango, Bunjai-Fufulso

Daboya-Mankarigu-Mempeasem, Salaga Township, Damango Township, Kusowgu-Tulwe, Soma-Tuna, Sawla-Nakpala, Tolon-Daboya to mention but a few. In addition, 2 new bridges for Buipe and Yapei shall start soon in addition to the Daboya Bridge that is ongoing.

It is the anticipation of the Regional Party of the governing NPP in the Region, that our colleagues in the NDC may be jealous of the near perfect work H.E the President and his Vice have done and still doing in the Region, yet that should not provoke them into a “Do or Die” miscommunication. They must get focused and criticize on tangible issues with empirical evidence and not this unwholesome propaganda that has outlived its usefulness.

THE END

Mohammed Issah

Director of Communications, Savannah NPP
