MTN gives generously towards Muslims Eid Celebration

Mobile Telephony Company MTN Ghana has extended their hands of generosity to some Muslims across the country as they geared towards Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations this weekend.

Items including 5 bags of rice, 5 cartoons of cooking oil, packs of water and soft drinks, a ram, 2000 cedis and MTN airtime were presented to the Central Mosque in Tamale, while similar donations are being made in Ashanti, Western as well as to the national chief Imam in Accra.

Making the presenting at the Central Mosque in Tamale on Friday morning, Aseye Kwami Akude on behalf of MTN’s General Manager for Northern Ghana, Nii Adotey Mingle, explained that the corona virus pandemic did affect a lot of lives and livelihoods, as a result, some responsibilities such as providing basic needs for individuals and families were shifted to the office of the regional chief imam, especially during the month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-fitr.

According to him, as a cooperate entity; MTN was reaching out with the support to the regional chief imam, having done same in the past 10 years and beyond.

In the past two years, where the entire world had been hit by the corona pandemic, things have not been normal and that even affected religious worship due to restrictions. However through your intense prayers, Allah has been merciful and things are returning to normalcy where family and friends can experience some reconnection,” he stated.

Kwami Akude urged Muslim communities to continue to adhere to the necessary protocols since the virus was still with us.

A member of the secretariat of the central mosque, Imam Alhassan Adam Abdul-Latif who received the items on behalf of the regional chief imam expressed gratitude to their benefactor, MTN Ghana for the gesture to the Muslim fraternity. He promised that the items will be put to good use by ensuring the beneficiaries were all covered.

MTN is meanwhile extending its support to “Sallafest” celebrations in Nima and Accra New Town this year to revamp the celebrations after two years of being put on hold.

The largest mobile telephony operator further implored the Muslim leadership and Islamic clergy to impress upon their followers to register their mobile sim cards only with the Ghana card.
