MTN Ghana donates assorted food items and Cash to Muslim community in Tamale ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations

MTN Ghana has donated assorted drinks, food items and a ram to the leadership of the Central Mosque in Tamale towards this year’s Eid ul Fitr celebrations, which marks the successful completion of the month-long Ramadan fasting.
In addition to the items from MTN which includes bags of rice and cooking oil and bottled water, the company also gave a cheque for GHC 10,000.00 toward the Eid celebrations which is a few days away.

MTN’s Area Sales Manager, Collins Adjei led officials of the company to make the presentation to Alhaji Habib Mohammed, Secretary to the Central Mosque, who received the items on behalf of the of the Regional Chief Imam.
According to Mr. Adjei, the Islamic ritual, “Ramadam” was a period of spiritual renewal, hence, over the years MTN Ghana had used same, as a gesture of goodwill to supporting Muslim communities by making modest donations to them.
“This is an opportunity for us at MTN, considering the roles Muslims play in national unity and peace, which is positive for our business development and growth. We also appreciate the long-standing relationship between MTN and the Muslims communities who patronize our services, so we at MTN see the gesture as an appreciation for how Muslims have continually supported our business over the years, Mr. Adjei added.
On behalf of the leadership of the Central Mosque in Tamale, Alhaji Habib, who received the items commended MTN for the support in the last six years, describing it as “a big push” for the leadership of the cleric in an efforts to cater for the poor in their midst.
He explained that as a religious body, their constituents are largely the poor, as such, the donation will go a long way in reaching out to individuals and families in the Muslim communities around that do not have the financial muscles to celebrate the Eid ul Fitr.
“I, standing on behalf of the Regional Chief Imam, want to express gratitude to MTN for having us in mind and that gives us hope that anytime they have social programs, they will remember us,” Alhaji Habib Mohamed added.
