MP for Nantong hook additional 4 communities on to the national grid

The Member of Parliament for Nanton constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Mohammed Hardi Tuferu has extended electricity to four (4) communities in the constituency.

That brings to fourteen (14) communities connected to the national grid, in the Nanton District.

The supply of electricity to the communities which was made possible through the abled facilitation of the NPP member of parliament, formed part of his efforts towards ensuring that all communities within the constituency are connected on to the national grid.

Among the beneficiary communities include Kpanye, Dohi, Golorri and Moya.

Street lights were installed in all these communities whiles about hundreds of LED bulbs were also distributed to the community members.

According to Alhaji Hardi Tuferu, this was in fulfillment of one of his promises made to residents of the communities during the 2016 elections. He said he has put measures in place to connect the last four (4) communities to the national grid before the 2020 general elections.

He said, the NPP government is doing everything possible for Ghanaians to enjoy good standard of living, adding that the extension of electricity to the communities will go a long way to improve academic performance and socio-economic activities in the communities.

Speaking to Diamondfmonline.com after addressing the chiefs and people at Golorri, the Nanton law maker however, advised the people particularly the youth to take advantage of the opportunity of being connected to the national grid to create jobs for themselves in other to improve on their livelihpods.

He said the connection of the communities to the national grid would pave way for many development projects to be established in the area, saying his outfit has put in strategic measures in place to construct mechanized bore-holes across the constituency to provide portable water for the people of Nanton constituency.

 “I will construct mechanized bore-holes in each community in this constituency now that we have lights in almost every community.  The engineers have already inspected the communities and so very soon the work will begin, because my mothers are suffering a lot during dry season, and so I want to stop this suffering”, he stated.  

Alhaji Tuferu also disclosed that, he is working closely with Nanton District Assembly to rolling out series of developmental projects which include construction of roads, schools, and maternity wards across the district to ease the difficulty pregnant women go through in the area.

“I want to complete five maternity wards before 2020 general election”, he assured.



The chiefs and people of the beneficiary communities who could not hide their happiness thanked the MP for the gesture and plead for more development at their various jurisdictions.
