Moshies win Diamond Damba Festival 2025 Fun Games trophy
The Moshie Community in Tamale have won the match up against the Dagombas in the eighth edition of the annual fun games, the Diamond Damba Festival Fun Games. They proved too strong for the Dagombas by recording a 3-1 victory.
This means the Moshies have now won a second trophy of the Diamond Damba Festival Fun Games after winning the 2023 edition as well. The Dagombas have won the other six editions.
At a rain disturbed day on Saturday, 13th September, 2025 at the NOBISCO field, the Moshies grabbed the bagging rights for the next year.

In the first game that was played on the day, the Dagaabas defeated their counterparts, the Bonaboto Youth by 3-1 on penalties after a 2-2 drawn game in regulation time. This also means that, the Dagaabas grab the bragging rights for the second straight time after also winning last year’s edition against the Bonaboto Youth by 4-1.
Other games that were billed to take place on the day included, the Gonjas against the Kassena which wasn’t played because the Kassena failed to turn up.
The same fate determined the political party’s game as the NDC got a walkover after the NPP failed to turn up.
In attendance at the games were Alhaji Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzo, Northern Regional Football Association chairman, Coach Mumuni Gamel, former Black Queens coach and Mohammed Sulemana (Chief Agitator), NDC Regional Communications Director, supporters of the participating teams among others.

In his address to the gathering at the end of the games, Alhaj Abu Hassan Rhyzo commended Diamond FM for the initiative and took the opportunity to thank all stakeholders and philanthropists’ and the station’s benefactors who generously donate to this course. Alhaj Rhyzo jokingly claimed that the Kassenas would have been heavily beaten by the Gonjas if they had turned up for their match up.
The Diamond Damba Festival (DDF) is an initiative of Diamond FM which started 8 years ago. The DDF lines up a number of activities each year to commemorate the annual traditional Damba Festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of the north.
It started with blood donation exercise to our major hospitals in 2017 but has since included other beneficial activities like health insurance registration and renewal for the vulnerable, food and consumables donation to windows and orphans, socialization matches for political parties and ‘rival tribes’ to fraternize and promote peaceful coexistence among others.
The activities for this year continuous on Friday, 19th September, 2025 where donations will be made to the Anfaani Children’s Home and Tears of Widows and Orphans Foundation.
The activities conclude with the blood donation exercise at the premises of Diamond FM at Nkrumah Voli Ni, Industrial Area on Saturday, 20th September, 2025.
