Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Dr Hamza Adam commissions a borehole for residents of Yagra Fong

The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region, Dr Hamza Adam has commissioned a borehole facility for residents of Yagra Fong in his constituency.

The project, an initiative of the Member of Parliament, was fully funded by Salifu Sualih Foundation, an Islamic Charity Organization based in the Northern Region.

Yagra Fong, a suburb of the Kumbungu has been battling with access to portable drinking water, just like many other communities and villages within the Constituency.

Addressing the media after the commissioning, the MP noted that, the Yagra Fong borehole project forms part of sixteen other borehole projects that his office and development partners  intends constructing across most  communities within the district.

He indicated that, the borehole project is in fulfillment of a pledge he made to the people in the community who personally appealed to him about the water situation in the area, during the 2020 election campaign period.

 “Water is becoming very difficult for the people of Kumbungu. During my campaign tour, I promised the community that I was going to give priority to the water challenges. Water is life, and since I was elected as Member of Parliament for this area, I have been struggling to resolve the water situation in this area. And, I have been fortunate because I have been able to secure sixteen boreholes to be constructed across the constituency”, he stated.

The MP thanked the leadership of Salifu Sualih Foundation for their generosity, and assured that the boreholes will relieve residents who trek several miles in search of good drinking water.

On the maintenance culture, Dr Hamza advised the community members to pay attention to the facility by putting it into good use.

 He assured communities within the Kumbungu District who are facing water problems that, his outfit is liaising with other Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to address their challenges.

 “We are not going to end here. I will continue to liaise with NGOs to support me to address the water situation in this constituency”, he assured.

On their part, the residents of Yagra Fong community, commended the MP for his lobbying skills towards providing them with portable drinking water.

According to the residents, the efforts by the MP in solving the water challenges  without central government’s intervention was an indication  that they made a good choice. “We thank you for addressing our biggest concern”.

In a related development, the MP for Kumbungu has supported Christians within the Kumbungu constituency in celebrating the Easter festivities.

He presented over 200 cartons of soft drinks for onward distribution to the Christian Community as they joined the rest of the world in celebrating this year’s Easter.
