Let’s use eminent personalities in the country to resolve our differences-Adib Saani

Security commentator, Adib Saani has suggested that Ghana as a sovereign country shouldn’t rely on international bodies in mediating or resolving issues especially those that bothered on domestic elections.

He said Asantehene and the National Chief Imam are eminent personalities that as a country we can call on to mediate and resolve any misunderstandings arising out of the elections..

He was commenting on the back of recent street protests in parts of the country by supporters of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) who have accused the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensah of declaring the 2020 presidential polls in favor of the New patriotic Party (NPP’s) Nana Akufo Addo.

Speaking to Diamond News on the development, Adib Saani opined that most of the conflict situations in Sub-Saharan Africa were associated with elections adding that these are usually post elections conflicts.

He also asserted that the delays in the certification of results were also a major concern saying “In the past, as and when the results from the constituencies come, they are certified, unfortunately this time around they were certified by regions. So after 24 hours we still didn’t have a single certification.”

The security commentator recommended that the EC reverts to the past, where results were certified at the constituencies, in order not to create unnecessary delays.
