‘Let Suhuyini run unoppose’ – Concern Constituents of Tamale North Constituency

A concern constituents of Tamale North Constituency of the Sagnarigu Municipality in the Northern Region, want the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Honorable Alhassan S. Suhuyini, to run unoppose for the upcoming parliamentary primaries scheduled for May 2023.

The group made the statement at a press briefing after picking nomination forms for Alhaji Alhassan S. Suhuyini.

“We the Concern Constituents of this great constituency arrived at such a decision to pay for the nomination form for Honorable Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini because of his unprecedented work as far as this constituency is concern”, they indicated.

Convenor of the group, Alhaji Mohammed Awal, who addressed the media on behalf of the group said, “the above-mentioned group wish to declare our support in a loud and clear manner through your medium to the good people of Tamale North and the entire NDC family across the length and breadth of this republic for Honorable Suhuyini to go “UNOPPOSE” in the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries”.

He further stated that, “there is a famous statement in the field of football that “YOU DON’T CHANGE YOUR WINNING TEAM”.

The convenor of the group also highlighted a number of developmental projects the MP initiated and executed including education, health, water and sanitation, sports, among others.

CONCERNED CONSTITUENTS OF TAMALE NORTH TO PAY FOR THE NOMINATION FEES, DECLARE SUPPORT AND CAMPAIGN FOR HON. ALHASSAN SAYIBU SUHUYINI IN THE UPCOMING PARLIAMENTARY PRIMARIES

Ladies and gentlemen of the media, I, on behalf of the Concerned Constituents salute and welcome you to this all-important briefing even though at a short notice. Thanks so much you for coming.

Let me start by letting you know that this press conference is about our decision to pay for the nomination fees of our hard-working Member of Parliament for this Constituency and to take up his campaign going into 2024 election.

We the Concerned Constituents of this great constituency arrived at such a decision to pay for the nomination form for Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini because of his unprecedented work as far as this constituency is concerned.

The above-mentioned group will wish to declare our support in a loud and clear manner through your medium to the good people of Tamale North and the entire NDC family across the length and breadth of this Republic for Hon. Suhuyini to go “UNOPPOSED” in these upcoming parliamentary primaries.

There is a famous statement in the field of football that “YOU DON’T CHANGE YOUR WINNING TEAM”. We all do know that the primary responsibilities of a legislator or Member of Parliament are to:

Ø Do legislative work

Ø Representative work and

Ø Oversight responsibilities

Ladies and gentlemen of the media, you all are witnesses to the good works of our dear MP with respect to the above-listed core roles. Hon. Suhuyini is doing very well both at the committee and in the plenary. Tamale North Constituency became a household name for positive reasons since 2015 when our dear MP became the parliamentary candidate for the good people of Tamale North on the ticket of the great NDC. It is therefore obvious that our MP has become the best-performing Member of Parliament in the history of this constituency.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, let me briefly highlight some of the numerous developmental projects and programs our MP has embarked on based on which we, as a group, feel that he should be allowed to go “UNOPPOSED”. We can’t, as constituents, be ungrateful to our MP, the records of Hon. Suhuyini are unprecedented in the history of Tamale North. May I capture some of the good works of our Hon. MP in some thematic areas:

HEALTH:

  1. Constructed nurses’ accommodation for the good people of Ward “K” Community.
  2. Constructed nurses’ accommodation for the good people of the Kanvili Community
  3. Constructed and furnished pavilion for use as CWC/RCH clinic at Choggu Health Center
  4. Lobbied for the construction of ultra-modern clinics for three communities – Gbalahi, Ward “K” and Fuo.
  5. Donated medical equipment and furniture to Ward “K” and Gbalahi Clinic.
  6. Extended electricity to the newly constructed Gbalahi Clinic.
  7. Donation of medical equipment and furniture to Kulaa and Gbrima CHPS Compound.
  8. Renovated Choggu Health Center.
  9. Renovated Kalpohin Health Center
  10. Registration of constituents into the NHIA (new membership and renewal)
  11. Donated community ambulance/hearse to Taha & other surrounding communities
  12. Constructed Placenta Pit and External Security Lighting at Nyanshegu CHPS
  13. Donated Medical Equipment to Nyanshegu CHPS
  14. Health Screening at Choggu and Gbalahi communities.
  15. Donated PPEs in order to prevent and protect lives against the Covid-19 pandemic. These donations were done across the entire constituency.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, let me stop here and move to Education.

EDUACTION:

construction 1 no. 3-unit classroom block at Zamzamiya Islamic school at Kanvilli
construction 1 no. 3-unit classroom block at Kalpohin, Halidiya Islamic school.
Construction 3-unit classroom block at Gbanyamni
Renovated 1no5-unit classroom block at Choggu Demonstration School.
Renovated 1no. 6-unit classroom block at Immaniya Islamic school at Mmanayili
Donated about 1400 dual-desk & set of teacher’s tables and chairs to selected basic schools
Donated set of brass band instrument to Kalpohin SHS
Donated 250 tables & chairs to Kalpohin SHS
Donated furniture and printer to Municipal Education Directorate
Donated over 1500 mathematical sets to final-year JHS students
Organized and continue to organize holiday extra classes for final year students in JHS & SHS
Donated school uniforms & bags to pupils in basic schools
Donated over 20,000 note 1 exercise books to basic schools
Annual financial support to needy tertiary students to pay their school fees
Donated over 1000 story books to final year BECE students

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me take you to Water and Sanitation.

WATER AND SANITATION:

The Hon MP;

Evacuated refuse at some selected damp sites in the constituency
Desilted and dredged Kalpohin-Fuo storm drain
Constructed fence wall for Fuo community public toilet
Constructed fence wall for Mmanayili community public toilet
Construction of mechanized borehole at Fuo, Ward”K” central mosques
Provided water storage tanks with stands and harvesting system for Kulaa, Gbrima & Kuntaliga Communities
constructed a mechanized well at Gumani Community
constructed a mechanized well at Kanvili Community
constructed a mechanized well at Kanvili-Tuunayili Community
constructed a mechanized well at Wovoguma Community
constructed a mechanized well at fuo community

Let me come to Agriculture, ladies and gentlemen of the press.

AGRICULTURE:

There has been an annual donation of farming inputs such as fertilizers, chemical to farmers
Donated over 100 knapsacks spraying machines to farmers
Purchased Tractors for use by farmers in the farming communities
SPORTS DEVELOPMENT:

On Sports, ladies and Gentlemen, the MP:

Annually organize community fun games in the constituency with prizes for winners and Support student’s games financially.

A few weeks ago, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini brought Empire Soccer Academy to the Tamale North constituency. They organized soccer justifiers. Some of you witnessed the selection of over 10 qualified soccer players. They are currently in Accra undergoing training and education.

The MP has also donated a number of football jerseys and footballs to several soccer clubs, youth groups and schools, in the Tamale constituency.

Ladies and Gentlemen in the media, the following are also some of his social interventions;

OTHER SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS:

Constructed pavilion for Kanvili Chief’s Palace
Supported the construction of the Choggu Naa’s Palace
Supported over 500 women financially with startup capital
Support religious celebrations such as Christmas & Eid celebrations with assorted food items.
Provided 0ver 700 street lights to communities in the constituency
Organized community sporting competitions
Spot improvement of Kalpohin Estate through the market to Cemetery Road.
Support in payment of medical bills to needy individuals
Donations towards traditional festivals such as Damba and fire festivals.
As for connecting communities to the National Grid, we just cannot thank the MP enough.

Aside from the few works of our MP mentioned above, he has been supporting needy families and individuals daily.

We must also let the world know that our Hon. Member of Parliament, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini has been very assessable to all constituents. He visits the constituency almost every week. During his visits, he interacts with youth groups, community leaders, students, etc. He attends and supports social events with pride. Per our checks, he is the most accessible Member of Parliament in the history of the Constituency.

We take so much pride in watching him on the floor of parliament debating issues of national importance, fighting for the constituents through posing questions to ministers, making statements, asking intelligent questions, especially at the Appointments Committee. We could not have asked for a better Member of Parliament.

At this juncture Ladies and gentlemen, I, on behalf of the Concerned Constituents, wish to send a strong signal to whoever may be coming to contest Hon Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini in these upcoming primaries, to advice themselves. We do not want any distractions. We have not had enough of our workaholic MP yet, so whoever is thinking of contesting him should stay away. Because they will be DISGRACED and DISAPPOINTED.

Let me add that, we the Concerned Constituents of Tamale North, have decided to inform our hardworking Member of Parliament to rest in Accra for now. We will be doing the campaign for him and also bear all the financial costs associated with the contest.

We in the Tamale North Constituency are not ungrateful constituents but objective and rational and for that matter, we will celebrate and motivate our hero (Hon. Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini) whiles he is still alive and that is exactly what we are doing.
