Kunbungu MP begins renovation works on Yuni basic school.

Pupils, and parents of Yuni community, in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region, expressed joy after the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Hamza Adam, responded to their call to re-roof and renovate a six-unit classroom block in the community.

The six-unit classroom block is the only school in the area and serve over hundred pupils in the community.

The block, which was ripped off by a rainstorm over 3 years ago left the school without an option than to close down. The destruction of the roof also affected the walls of the building creating numerous creaks on the walls.

An appeal was made to then Parliamentary candidate Dr Hamza Adam, during the 2020 general elections campaign period.

The MP, months after the elections mobilized materials to now respond to the needs of the school.

Some of the parents who could not hide their excitements said the school was closed down for the past three years and all efforts to get the facility renovated proved futile. They underscored the impact of the assistance from the MP.

“We informed the DCE through the district education directorate but they did nothing so our children had to stay at home for the past three years, everyone is happy for the kind gesture and we really appreciate what our MP has done for us”, a community member stated.

“When the building was ripped off by the storm, we couldn’t control our children at home because there is no place for them to sit and study and so they had to stay at home. This is a relief to us the parents” another parent also narrated to diamondfmonline.com.

Meanwhile Adam Mahama a pupil at the Yuni primary school, speaking to diamondfmonline.com said, “We are happy that after the work we will be returning to school, we thank the MP for renovating our school”.

The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency, Dr Hamza Adam said his priority as an MP is to ensure every child in the constituency have access to quality education, hence the continues support to the education sector.

“At long last, relief would come to the good people and pupils of Yuni in my beloved Kumbungu Constituency as they are readying to go back to school after. I am just imagining the number of potential teachers and MPs whose dreams might have been shattered as a result of the closure of the school”, he added.
