Member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency, Dr. Adam Hamza, has presented 1,273 mathematical sets to candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Kumbungu District.
According to the MP the donation formed part of measures he took to ensure no candidate lacked basic learning materials as required for the examination.
Making the presentation through the District Director of Education, the Kumbungu constituency Chairman of the NDC Abukari Saaka who presented the items on behalf of the MP, said the gesture formed part of the MP’s commitment towards the pursuit of quality education in the area.
He said Dr. Hamza’s priority as an MP in the area is to empower the youth through education, indicating that education is the key to human development, hence the MP’s decision to invest in the educational needs of the people.
The NDC Chairman also noted that, even before Dr. Hamza was elected a Member of Parliament for the area, he had begun implementing a free extra classes policy for WACE and BECE candidates in the area.
Abubakari Saaka reiterated the MP’s readiness to resolve and improve the falling standards of education in the constituency. The chairman on behalf of the MP told the candidates to reflect soberly on all that their teachers had taught them and what they had also learnt and write the examination in confidence.
The Kumbungu District Director of Education Bernedete Kafari, who received the items for onward disbursement, expressed her gratitude for the support, saying, “If you visit a village, you lodge with someone who will give you meat and not with someone who has meat”.
She called on the MP, Dr. Hamza Adam to continue supporting the sector to enable her improve the falling standards of education in the area
The candidates numbering 1,273 were joyful for the gifts from their MP and expressed their happiness on how the maths sets will go a long way to aid them in their upcoming examination.
They also thanked the MP for preparing them through his sponsorship of mock examination.
