Kumbungu MP launches Skills and Entrepreneurial Development Initiative (SEDI) to empower his constituents
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu constituency, Professor Adam Hamza, has on Thursday September 12, 2024, launched Skills and Entrepreneural Development Initiative (SEDI) to support his constituents.
The initiative will be the vehicle to equip the youth of Kumbungu with the necessary skills to enable them succeed in life.
It will also be a leading catalyst for economic empowerment and innovation, by nurturing a new generation of skilled professionals and visionary entrepreneurs towards creating an inclusive and dynamic ecosystem.
The Skills and Entrepreneurial Development (SEDI) is a significant step towards building a brighter future for the youth of Kumbung.
The initiative will focus on providing logistical support to technical and vocational training institutions, enhancing the capacities of vocational profession through constant refresher training; it would also provide incentives to vocational and skilled trainers for training apprentices, promote marketing of products of vocational institutions among others.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Professor Hamza Adam, indicated that the launching of SEDI policy in his constituency is in line with the policies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), aimed at creating opportunities for all, most especially women and the youth.
He said the unemployment situation, coupled with the current economic challenges in the country, needed an innovative path that had a potential of providing a sustainable solution to the issue, hence the initiative.
The lawmaker, while emphasizing the importance of vocational skills, also narrated, “my office is launching the skills and entrepreneurial development initiative with the mission of empowering the individuals with essential vocational skills and entrepreneurial mindset needed to thrive in the 21st century economy”.
He reaffirmed his commitment towards providing innovative training programmes, mentorship and resources to foster personal growth, business acumen to ensure sustainable development in his constituency.
On his part, the Kumbungu Zonal Chairman of the Ghana Dressmaker’s Association, Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Baki, commended the MP for demonstrating a true character of good leadership by coming out with such initiative to equip his constituents.
Meanwhile, Professor Hamza after the launching also presented fifty (50) sewing machines to some selected dressmakers within his constituency.
