Kumbungu MP launches Kumbungu Constituency Educational Fund (KuCEF)
Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency, Professor Adam Hamza, has launched the Kumbungu Constituency Educational Fund (KuCEF) to support students in the area to attain high academic levels.
The ceremony was held in Kumbungu on Saturday October 4, 2025. The fund is targeting all students in the Kumbungu Constituency, especially brilliant but needy and physically challenged female students.
The educational fund, the first of its kind in the constituency, is expected to benefit all tertiary students.
Speaking at the launch, Professor Adam Hamza, said his outfit since assuming office in 2021 has taken important steps to lessen the financial burden on parents.
“For Four years running, my office has modestly supported about Four Hundred and Sixty-Two (462) students in various tertiary institutions to pay their school fees with an amount of about Four Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 400,000.00)”.
“Today as we gather here, an additional amount of One Hundred and Eighty Thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 180,000.00) will be disbursed to 180 tertiary students, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to Six Hundred and Forty-Two (642) since 2021,” he said.
He said despite this effort, educational challenges within the constituency continue to rise, hence the fund.
“Despite the steps taken by my office and other relevant stakeholders of the constituency in this regard, educational challenges still continue to rise and so after careful consultations with stakeholders, we found it important to establish an educational fund to complement the government’s efforts. The fund will be a source that is trusted to provide a sustainable financial support for the needy but brilliant students across the constituency”.

He said the fund is under the supervision of a seven (7) Member Governing Board and will be giving 100% fee-paying scholarship to female students who study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Students living with disabilities, while fees of other students categories will be determined by the board.
“It is not just about helping with fees; it is about giving hope, building confidence, and ensuring that no child is left behind because of economic hardship”.
Prof Hamza further stated “Our vision is: to build a constituency where every young person regardless of background, has access to quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential”.
“Our Mission will be to provide sustainable financial support and educational opportunities to needy but deserving students within the Kumbungu constituency, while promoting academic excellence, equity, and community development through partnerships, scholarships, and mentorship programs”, he added.
He thus called on stakeholders within the constituency to support the fund.

For his part, the paramount chief of Kumbungu Traditional Area, Naa Sulemana Abu, commended the MP for bringing up such an initiative to support students in the area.
