Kumbungu MP hands over borehole to Nayili Fong residents

As part of his social intervention policies to addressing the pressing needs of the Constituents, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu Constituency, Dr Hamza Adamand his development partners on Monday August 8, 2022 handed over a borehole facility to the people of Nayili Fong a suburb of Kumbungu in the Kumbungu District.

The project, an initiative of the Member of Parliament, was fully funded by SAIT ATICI and supported by African Friendship Association, an Islamic Charity Organization based in Turkey.

In recent times Nayili Fong community, a suburb of Kumbungu has been battling with access to portable water just like many other communities and villages within the district.

The borehole facility forms part of 100 borehole projects the office of the MP and his development partners intends constructing across most communities within the district.

At a short ceremony to commission the borehole, the MP who is also the Deputy Ranking member of Environment, Science and Technology Committee of Parliament, expressed his commitment towards improving the living conditions of the people of his constituency.

He indicated that, the borehole project is in fulfillment of a pledge he made to the people in the community who personally appealed to him about the water situation in the area during the 2020 electioneering campaign.

“During my campaign tour, I promised the community that I was going to give priority to their water challenges after they personally appealed to me about the water situation in the area. And since I was elected as Member of Parliament for this area, I have been struggling to resolve the water situation in this area. And, I have been fortunate because I have come across African Friendship Association, an Islamic Charity Organization based in Turkey which has since supported me with a number of boreholes to resolve the water situation in this constituency.”

“Water is becoming very difficult for the people of Kumbungu most especially our mothers, because the taps are not flowing regularly, even if it does there has been an increment of water tariffs which makes it very difficult for the people to cope, hence the decision to provide the people with the boreholes to relieve them from suffering, he narrated.  

The MP thanked the leadership of African Friendship Association most especially its country representative Mr. Jamal Abdul Nasir Salis Salifu Sualih for their generosity, and assured that the boreholes will relieve residents most especially women who trek several miles in search of good drinking water.

On the maintenance culture, Dr Hamza advised the community members to pay attention to the facility by putting it into good use.

On their part the residents of Nayili Fong, thanked the MP for the wonderful projects he has embarked upon to improve living conditions of people across the constituency, and prayed for him in his future endeavors.

Meanwhile, the representative of African Friendship Association, Mr. Jamal Abdul Nasir Salis, in his remarks assured the MP of their readiness to continue partnering with him to resolve the water challenges within his constituency.

The MP has been partnering and attracting other organizations both local and international to help construct a number of boreholes across the Kumbungu Constituency.

African Friendship Association and the Wulugu Project are some of the Non-government Organisations that have agreed to help the MP achieve his 100 boreholes project in the constituency.
