The Member of Parliament (MP) Kumbungu, Constituency Professor Hamza Adam, has handed over a fully renovated (3) three-unit classroom block, head master office, staff common room, library and stores to the staff and pupils of Tonjing Primary School in the Kumbungu District.
The MP in December last year undertook a serious renovation work of the school block after his attention was drawn to its devastating state.
The three-unit class room block is the only existing school serving the people of Tonjing and its surrounding communities.
Addressing the community members at a short ceremony to hand over the renovation school block, the MP who doubles as Deputy Ranking Member of Parliament’s Committee on Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, reiterated his commitment towards making education as his topmost priority as MP.
He thus admonished parents to take their wards education seriously by enrolling them to schools. This the MP beliefs would help develop the human resource reserve of the Kumbungu District.
“If not education, some of us couldn’t have achieved what we are today’, he added.
Speaking on behalf of the District Director of Education, Mr. Alhassan Fuseini, commended the MP for giving education in the district the needed push to improve quality education delivery.
Meanwhile, staff and pupils of the school while expressing their gratitude to the MP for the gesture, also appealed for more of such interventions.
The Kumbungu legislator as part of his efforts towards uplifting the standard of education in his constituency has within two years in office initiated and completed series of developmental projects under the educational sector. It includes the completion of a 4-unit classroom block in Gumo, the renovation of Yuni Primary School, 6 six-unit class room block at Nwogu Primary School, six unit class room block for Dalun Simli Model Primary School, Voggu Kushibo Primary School, Gung Primary School renovation, renovation of three-unit class room block at Tonjing, provision of financial support to over 150 needy but brilliant students, distribution of 400 dual desk to 11 schools, over 1000 mathematical sets for all 2021 BECE candidates, among others.
