Kumbungu DCE touts himself successful, for bringing more developmental projects in the Kumbungu District

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kumbungu in the Northern Region, Honorable Abdul Salam Hamza Fatawu, has touted his success as DCE for Kumbungu District, saying his outfit has brought more development to the area.

According to him, he has been able to partner with government and other relevant institutions to ensure fair share distribution of developmental projects in the area.

“The development issue in the district before I became the DCE in 2017 was nothing to write home about. So, I took it up and lobby through the appropriate institutions to ensure Kumbungu get the needed attention from the Central government, and thank God we have received a positive response because the district under my stewardship has witness unprecedented development in the last few years”, he said.

The 2020 Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made these claims on Diamond FM Constituency Watch a Political Talk Show on Tuesday December 6, 2022.

He said through his lobbying skills, a number projects including school, health centers, road infrastructure and electrification projects were initiated and executed in the district.

“This has never happened in the history of Kumbungu, and there is evidence to back my claims”, he noted.

“I have performed more than any DCE since Kumbungu district was carved out from Tolon. I have brought developmental projects including building of schools, electricity, roads, jobs, among others. And anybody who feel uncertain about my claim should come out and challenge me”, he dares.

Touching on the road network in the area, Honorable Abdul Salam, indicated that, ever since Kumbungu district had its first scheme in 1974, no political authority had made any effort to open up the district capital.

However, he said through his efforts Kumbungu township roads has been open and other major roads within the district have been worked on while others are still on construction to make the district accessible.

He said he lobby for the construction of Kumbungu-Tolon road, UDS Nyankpala campus to Gbullung stretch, Tonjing-Garizegu-UDS Nyankpala road, by-water junction to UDS Nyankpala campus road, Lingbinga-Tibungu, Lingbinga-Kuli, Bugling-Tibungu Roada and Kochem-gnodua-Gumo road among others.

“When I assumed the role as DCE, I found out that it is only the almighty Kumbungu-Dalung road that was on contract. But the contractor wasn’t working because of luck of funds. I took it up and ensure funds were released to the contractor. And now, the primary ceiling has been done on the road, and we’re waiting for funds to do the ceil itself so that the road would be completed”, he narrates.

“We are working to make all communities within Kumbungu district accessible”, he said.

Hon Abdul Salam who was speaking on a wide range of developmental issues also commented on electrification projects in the district, saying his outfit had facilitated and hooked over 66 communities on to the national grid, and “this is historic”, he stated.

“I am determined to achieve universal electricity coverage in the district to enhance the economic and social lives of the people,” he said.
