A first batch of six hundred (600) women in the Karaga Constituency of the Northern Region have received GH¢1,000 each from the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area Honorable Mohammed Amin Adam Anta to boost their business in various areas.
The MP made the disbursement after successfully launching a Microcredit Program in the area on Saturday April 1, 2023 with the aim at empowering women in his constituency.
The loans were disbursed to 30 women groups by Alhaji Mohammed Amin Anta, at no interest with the beneficiaries expected to pay back.
According to him, the move is aimed at supporting the women who engaged in small and micro businesses in view of the significant role they play in the area.
“We have launched a Microcredit Program in my constituency to support women engaged in small and micro businesses. A total of Gh¢600,000 is being disbursed to 30 Women Groups”, he stated.
“In a few months time, we will also commission a 3 Shea-butter Processing Facilities in 3 communities. The women groups that will benefit from these facilities will also be provided with funds under the Microcredit Program to buy shea-nuts for processing”, he revealed.
The Microcredit program is administered through the Tizaa Rural Bank in Karaga.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries were in high spirits at the disbursement over the weekend and expressed gratitude to Honorable Mohammed Amin Anta for the philanthropic gesture assuring they will never let him down.
