Karaga District gets Municipality status

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has granted executive approval for the upgrade of Karaga District to municipality.

The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development (MLGRD), in a statement issued on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, stated that the upgrades followed its request in accordance with the relevant legal provisions outlined in Act 936.

Other districts which have been upgraded to municipalities are Offinso North District Assembly, Brim North District Assembly, and the Karaga District Assembly.

The Ministry also indicated that municipalities such as Ho Municipal Assembly, Sunyani Municipal Assembly, New Juaben Municipal Assembly, and the Wa Municipal Assembly, have also been upgraded to the metropolitan status.
