Innohub Ghana, Fidelity Bank, MTN and other actors take 100 Persons with Disabilities through an empowerment initiative aimed at unlocking their potentials in business
Corporate Communications and Marketing Lead at Innohub Ghana, King David Amo has admonished business startups not to just invest in a product of choice, but should prioritize opportunities around the specific product or service by turning them into viable businesses.
He said as startups, the goal should exceed beyond making profits, but should be hinged on carving a niche for their products through value addition, branding, marketing and making an impact.
Mr Amo gave the admonition in Tamale at a two-day empowerment initiative training for 100 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Northern Region.
The training on business startup was organized by Innohub Ghana with partners like Fidelity Bank, MTN Ghana and the GIZ (Ghana office).

The objective of the training was to help unlock the potentials of PWDS in business startup and supporting them to sustain their various businesses.
The beneficiaries were taken through foundations of entrepreneurship modules, digital marketing, branding, basic financial literacy and book keeping.
“The business sector, largely depends on you the entrepreneurs, you must therefore have a vision, be creative, be resilience, be discipline and be customer focused,” King David urged the trainees.
According to him, most startups and small business are not able to sustain their operations over time as they quickly fold up, hence Innohub Ghana working with other similar minds, identify, nurture and help build capacity opportunities for small businesses to grow and scale their impacts.
Mr. Amo said although the aim of entrepreneurs is to grow big, they should endeavor to start small. They should also manage their resources including time and monies judiciously so that their businesses will be sustainable and stand the test of time.
Corporate Social Responsibility Co-ordinator at Fidelity Bank, Ms. Majorie Quansah in a short address, said Fidelity believes “no one should be left behind” and as part of their CSR strategy, the bank promotes sustainable financing alongside supporting initiatives that enable PWDs have sustainable livelihoods opportunities and to becoming financially independent.
“For PWDs who have your own businesses, this important training thus offer you additional skills to growing or sustaining your businesses – in turn, you will be able to employ others,” Ms Quansah added
MTN Ghana’s Sales Controller for Enterprise Business, Ms. Catherine Amposah for her part said often, the vulnerable in society do get the needed support, hence MTN has set it as an objective to help them so that they can all grow together.

According to her, the training programmer has been tailored to address the needs of the PWDs, especially regarding business development.
Some beneficiaries of the training expressed their happiness for the exposure gotten during the two day event and commended the partners that put up the training for them.
