“I was shocked that Zuweiratu was nominated and not me”.

S. K. Orlando, who was the main contender for the position of the District Chief Executive for the Cheriponi District in the North East Region, has revealed he was shocked and surprised over the nomination of Madam Zuweiratu,Mada Nashiru as DCE for the area.

According to him, “I was overwhelmed by the endorsement from the youth and the people of Cheriponi, over 90% of the constituents endorsed my candidature, so I was shocked that the President did not nominate me”.

“We know the woman is now part of us, but when we were struggling for Nana Addo to become President in 2016, she was not part of the struggle, and the youth are angry because they think the President has subverted their will”, he narrated”.

S.K Orlando explaining his frustrations on Diamond FM power drive on Monday, 20, 2021, alleged that Madam Zuweiratu Mada Nashiru had never voted in the constituency and only transferred her vote to the constituency during the referendum to advance her interest in the DCE position.

“I can tell you that, the time we were struggling for NPP to come to power she did not have her vote in Cheriponi it was during the referendum she transferred her vote to Cheriponi and 2020 she voted for the first time in Cheriponi”.  

He further alleged that, the nominee Madam Zuweiratu Mada who is a daughter of late Madam MARRY NAKOBU a former DCE for Cheriponi District under the John Mahama led administration, in 2016 campaign for NDC in Cheriponi.

“Her late mother was a member of the NDC and even herself was NDC, we can show you pictures of her during the 2016 elections, she was campaigning physical for NDC in Cheriponi, she join our party in 2018 just two years ago”.

It would be recalled that some youth of the governing New Patriotic Party in Chereponi of the North East Region, went on rampage and destroyed some structures including party pavilions after the nomination of Zuweiratu Mada Nashiru as the District Chief Executive was announced.

Meanwhile S.K Olando during his interview on Diamond FM, however said calm has returned to the area after his outfit engaged the various youth groups in area.

“Yesterday Cheriponi was on fire, but I can tell you there is relative calm even though you can see frustrations on their faces, but we are talking to them to remain calm, because that is not the end of the road, we should all respect the President”, he ended.
