“I was never invited to the launch of Dagbon Dev’t Fund”, Mutala.

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Ibrahim Mohammed Mutala has denied receiving any invitation from the Dagbon Traditional Council inviting him to the launch of the Dagbon Development Fund over the weekend.

“I wish to state without any scintilla of doubt, that, I was never invited for the programme personally or through my Constituency Executives. As a matter of fact, I didn’t know of the programme until after it was held. I checked from my Constituency Executives as to whether they received such an invitation on my behalf and their response was negative”.

According to him, suggestions that he snubbed the event of which the Ya-Na was in attendance are misleading.

Some news portals over the weekend reported that, all the 15 Members of Parliament in the Dagbon traditional area failed to honor an invitation from the Dagbon Traditional Council to the launch of Dagbon Development Fund.

The Dagbon Development Fund was launched on Saturday 02 October 2021.

The report also indicated that it was only the Member of Parliament for Gushegu Hassan Tampuli who joined the program at the tail end.

The report said the chiefs expressed their unhappiness and opined that they consider the actions by the MPs as gross disrespect towards the kingdom.

However, reacting to the report on his Facebook page, the Tamale Central law maker, stated that he was never invited to the program personally or through his constituency executives.

He further explained that “I am a proud son of Dagbon and I will miss no opportunity to participate in any meeting organised for the purpose of the progress of Dagbon. Nonetheless, I sincerely have no blame for anyone who blamed me for not participating. Perhaps, they did so with the sincere believe that I was invited”.

He also indicated that “let’s put a bit of respect on our MP’S and their thinking, they are not stupid people. They pay our fees with the intervention of chiefs, they help us get jobs without the interventions of chiefs etc”.

“So nobody will teach them what is right again, they are not little children. Let’s stop judging people with emotions” he added.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Tolon constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu has also denied receiving any invitation from the Dagbon Traditional Council to the launch of Dagbon Development Fund.
