Hundreds of job seekers thronged the Aliu Mahama Sport Stadium on Thursday October 28, 2021 in search of jobs during the Youth Employment Agency career and entrepreneurship fair.
An initiative of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), the career and entrepreneurship fair is expected to link job seekers in the Northern Region to opportunities within the various sectors.
It is also expected to provide an opportunity for employers to have access to qualified job seekers to fill vacant positions in their organizations.
As part of the fair, participants will be taken through various career talk sessions on the dos and don’ts of writing a curriculum vitae (CV), preparing for interviews, among others.
Companies from different sectors include academia, security, food and beverages, engineering, information and communications technology and waste management, have mounted booths to engage and shortlist job seekers for employment.
The Director for Research and Planning at the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Agya Yaw Nsiah, explaining the purposed said the fair is a strategic move by YEA to help job seekers connects to employers.
He indicated that the YEA authority is ready to offer between Ghc 5, 000 to Ghc 30,000 to young entrepreneurs to enable them operate their businesses effectively.
“Generally, we are looking at a range and the scope of the businesses as well, and we are ready to offer base on the person’s proposal and ideas, between 5,000 to 30,000 to help their businesses operate”.
Mr. Agya Nsia, said the Youth Employment Agency is working with over 60 companies in the northern region which has since made over 400 vacancies available for recruitment.
On his part the Northern Regional director Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Haruna Mahama, in an interaction with the media, indicated that the fair is for everybody and urged the participants to take advantage of the fair to improve their businesses.
Meanwhile the northern regional coordinating director Alhaji Alhassan Issahak, who delivered the key note address on behalf of the Northern Regional Minister, commended the YEA for initiative and pledged the northern regional coordinating council’s support while urging young entrepreneurs to take advantage of the initiative.
