Heavy rains on Thursday cause havoc in many parts of Tamale Metropolis killing one person

The heavy rains on Thursday morning caused havoc in many parts of the Tamale Metropolis killing one person and leaving many homes flooded.

The deceased, a five year old pupil, got drowned before a rescue team could reach him. The downpour lasted for about four hours.

Eyewitnesses told Diamond News that the boy wore a white and brown school uniform and was carried away by running water from a far distance before he was found dead at a place near Gariba Lodge in Tamale.

His body was seen dragged by the water into a storm drain at Gariba Lodge on the Tamale – Bolga road.

Some of the eyewitnesses narrating the incident to Diamond News however condemned the management of the school yet to be identified for allowing the boy to leave the school in the rain.

The body of the boy has since been sent to a morgue pending further action.

Diamond News attempts to get the police for a reaction proved futile.
