Hasaacas Ladies reach grand finale of the maiden TotalEnergies CAF Women Champions League

Ghana’s five time Women Premier League (WPL) champions and last season’s double winners Hasaacas Ladies have reached the grand finale of the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Moroccan side Asfar 2-1 in the semi finals on Monday.

The WAFU Zone B Women’s qualifying tournament champions proved too good for their Moroccan counterparts as they dominated play in all areas.

It was therefore not surprising when Doris Boaduwaa opened the scoring after 30minutes of play in the first half. It was cancelled out as Asfar got the equalizer just before half time.

Back from the break Hasaacas Ladies piled up the pressure but were unable to take the lead with Perpetual Agyekum missing a penalty in the 63rd minute. And also failing to take advantage of the rebound as the ball hit the upright and came back to her feet.

However, it didn’t take long for them to get back in front as Evelyn Badu headed home from a beautiful cross from the right in the 76th minute.

The Sekondi based side held on to ensure that they reach the final and are in with a chance to lift the ultimate on Friday in the finals.

Hasaacas Ladies will play against Sundowns Ladies to discover the maiden winners of the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League being hosted in Egypt.

Hasaacas Ladies captain fantastic Janet Egyiri emerged the TotalEnergies Woman of the Match after the final whistle.

Coach Yussif Basigi’s side will be hoping to make Ghana proud once again on Friday.
