GSS to release 2021 census provisional results.

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) will release provisional results for the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

According to State owned Daily Graphic, the release of the report is an important milestone in the 2021 PHC dissemination strategy that aims to promote wide usage of census data for research, policy and planning and share lessons learned from the implementation process with national and international partners.

Data from the census will also provide an indispensable framework in using administrative data to track the national, regional and global development agendas namely the Coordinated Programme of Economics and Social Development Policies, the Africa Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 2021 Population and Housing Census officially commenced on Sunday, June 27 with the listing of structures on Sunday, June 13, 2021.

The exercise was extended for the third and final time from August 1-8, 2021.

The first extension started from Monday July 12 to 18, while the second one started from Monday July 19 to July 31.

The Ghana Statistical Service on August 25 begun a Post Enumeration Survey (PES) to evaluate the completeness and accuracy of the 2021 Population and Housing Census by independently revisiting a sample of the population and recording their information in relation to the Census.

The exercise which ended on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, was carried out in all the 16 regions with 91 districts and 498 enumerations.
