President Nana Akufo-Addo has assured that his government would give the necessary attention to the recommendation made by the Commission of Inquiry into the violence at the Ayawaso West Wuogon during a by-election.

Addressing members of the Commission after they presented their report to him at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo stated that paying attention to the recommendations would help avert violent occurrences in future elections.


Chairman of the Commission, Justice Emile Short, in his remarks before presenting their report said: “all necessary grounds have been covered by the Commission and that government will find the findings and recommendations useful in shaping important reforms for the future.”

The three members Commission chaired by Justice Emile Short also had law professor, Mrs Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, and a former Inspector General of Police Patrick K. Acheampong. Former Dean of the Faculty of Law, GIMPA and a private legal practitioner, Ernest Kofi Abotsi, served as Secretary to the Commission that looked into the Ayawaso West Wougon by election violence which took place on January 31.
