The Minister for Business Development Dr IBRAHIM MOHAMMED AWAL has appealed to chiefs and people in the Northern Region to consider giving President Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) another term in office come December 7th this year.
According to him, the achievements of the NPP and President Akufo-Addo in the last three years are unprecedented.
Hon. Mohammed Awal made the appeal on Tuesday, March 10, 2020,on Day-one of his week-long working visit to the Northern Region of Ghana to engage religious leaders, chiefs, opinion leaders, women groups, artisans, party actors and other youth groups on the numerous policies of the Akufo-Addo led government.
Briefing the media at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, Dr. IBRAHIM MOHAMMED AWAL, said another term for the NPP will help transform Ghana.
He said the NPP government has built a solid foundation which must be maintained and expanded after the 2020 election.
He added the NPP led Nana Addo government in the last three years has been able to stabilize the micro economic environment with both GDP and inflation decreasing to single digits. “This indication showing that this government has stabilized the micro economy and need another term in office.” He said.
Speaking to the Media, the Business Minister mentioned that the NPP government within three years in governance has initiated several social interventions including the Free SHS, Planting for Foods and Jobs, Presidential Business Support Programme (NEIP), which has since benefitted thousands of Ghanaians in the country.
He said the free SHS has enabled 1.2million people to have access to Senior High Schools in the country. “This has never happened. This is the most single important social intervention policy in the country”. And so, I am urging my good people of the North to give Nana Addo and NPP another term.
“Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has worked hard over the last three years to deliver a substantial number of remarkable achievements which we are going to consolidate going forward,” he said.
He said government through his ministry spent GH₵ 6 million to support 700 beneficiaries in the five regions of the north who were trained under the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP ).
Dr IBRAHIM AWAL also announced that government through his Ministry, intend to spend GH₵10 million this year in the five regions of the North to build young businesses in this part of the country.
He said his ministry within the last year had created 96,000 jobs under the entrepreneurship module across the country saying his outfit this year intends to train 15,000 young people under the entrepreneurship program.
He added that government intends to support over three thousand young people to expand their businesses this year.
The Business Minister speaking however admonished the people in the Northern Region to take advantage of these initiatives and better their lives.
He also entreated both regional and constituency executives and supporters of NPP to ensure unity within the party in the Northern Region.
