Ghanaians want results, not words – Greater Accra Minister to MMDCEs
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has issued a stern reminder to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region to focus on delivering results rather than making excuses.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Thursday, August 28, 2025, the Minister said the performance of all MMDCEs will now be strictly assessed based on three priority areas: sanitation, streetlights, and the enforcement of by-laws.
“Your performance will be based on three clear areas — sanitation, streetlights, and enforcement of by-laws. This will be documented in my report to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and then forwarded to the presidency,” she stated.
Mrs. Ocloo further called on residents of the capital to take responsibility by supporting the efforts of the government.
She urged the public to report faulty streetlights, stop indiscriminate refuse dumping, and desist from mounting unauthorised billboards.
She also cautioned individuals involved in stealing metal parts from public streets and selling them to dealers, warning that offenders would face severe consequences.
“To the public, I call on all residents to report faulty lights for quick action. Take responsibility for sanitation, avoid indiscriminate dumping, and assist security agencies in protecting public infrastructure. And to those who steal metals from our streets and sell them, you are warned to desist from this act,” she stressed.
According to the Regional Minister, the time for empty promises is over.
“The people of this region are tired of words. They want results, and they want them now,” she declared
