FOUR PLAYERS FROM NORTHERN REGION MAKE IT INTO THE BETWAY TALENT HOUSE

A total of four players from the Northern Region have successfully made it into the final 24 players selected for camping in the Betway Talent House at the Lizzy Sports Complex after the end of the search over the weekend. The lucky players from a pool of hundreds from across the country are living their dream of making it to greater heights.

The four players include, Simba SYLVESTER of Tamale Utrecht Football Academy, Robert GYAMFI from Tamale Liberty, Sadat MOHAMMED from Steadfast FC and Muntari ISSAHAK who is unattached are directly from Tamale and have made it into the final 24 players for this year’s exercise to determine the next generation of great players.

This was disclosed by Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Betway Talent Search, Fred Sackey on Monday during the Yelvuhi Saha Sports Show on Diamond 93.7 FM. He was speaking in an exclusive interview with host of the programme Mohammed Mutaka on the selected players and the itinerary for this year’s event.

He said while in camp, these players and their colleagues will from Saturday 8th September 2018 to Friday 14th September 2018 be taken through a series of drills to sharpen them as footballers through extensive fitness and training sessions. The players will also benefit from educational seminars on footballer’s do’s and don’ts, self-introspection, cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) and first aid in general.

The Betway Talent Search is in its second year having started back in 2017. It is an annual venture where players are scouted from the length and breadth of the country and given a lifetime opportunity to excel in their chosen field.  Themes of the search for talents that include “Greatness exists everywhere”, “Greatness exists in Ghana” and “Every Legend Starts Somewhere” among others rings a bell of never giving up in life’s struggles even on the football field.

The team begun this year’s exercise in Tamale at the Northern School of Business (Nobisco) Sports Oval where 32 players were selected from over 300 players that showed up for the exercise. Similar exercises in Sunyani, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Accra took place to select same talents between the ages of 18-25.

The scouting team was led by Betway Talent Search Ambassador Stephen ‘Tornado” Appiah and was coordinated by Coach Baba Nuhu Mallam when the Tamale event took place. Other members of the scouting team included Maxwell Konadu, Eric Antwi Ofori, Mohammed Gargo, Sam Johnson, Godfred Aduobe, Seth Pearson, Kamaal Sait and Godfrey Malambule who were subdivided into teams to lead each of the sessions.

The camped players will play a series of matches against Ghana Premier League Clubs such as Medeama SC and Liberty Professionals. About eight lucky players who will be winners in the various categories will stand a chance of being drafted into one of the Betway sponsored Ghana Premier League clubs, ie Ashantigold, Aduana Stars, Liberty Professionals and Medeama SC or who knows, they could even land themselves a foreign professional contract with a club.

It is our hope and prayer that the players from the Northern Region will excel.
