Fmr Ambassador at Large, replies Mahama.

The former Ambassador at large, Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama has responded to the ‘do or die’ comments by former President John Dramani Mahama.

Ex-President John Dramani Mahama while speaking on Techiman-based Akina FM on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, as part of his thank-you tour of the Bono East region, said the NDC acted diplomatically amidst the military intimidations and use of pro-vigilante groups in the last election.

According to him, the party has learnt its lessons and for that matter, the 2024 election will be a ‘do or die’ affair.

“We have learnt our lessons from happenings during the 2020 polls. The 2024 elections will be won or lost at the polling station. It will be do-or-die at the polling stations. The right thing must be done during the polls. We will win the elections at the polling station and won’t wait for collation centre results nor petition the Supreme Court if aggrieved,” Mahama shared.

However, reacting to the comments on his Facebook page, the 2016 flagbearer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), now former Ambassador at large stated that “Ghana will win again” and “no one will have to die”.

“No one will have to die in Ghana for you to be president. Ghana will win again”, Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama wrote.

The former President’s comments have since attracted condemnation from sections of the Ghanaians.

IMANI Africa’s founding President, Franklin Cudjoe, managing editor of the Insight newspaper, Ben Ephson among others are asking the former President to retract.
