FirstBank Ghana steps in boldly into Tamale; aiming to capture the vast unbanked population.
The Managing Director, FirstBank – Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, says the Bank is pursuing a strong drive to empower customers with financial education and business advisory services.
These would enable customers make sound decisions to grow their businesses in a sustainable manner.
According to the Managing Director Firstbank’s presence in the financial space, isn’t just to open accounts, but to build relationships through a hybrid model of digital platforms, branch services and community outreach.
Mr. Asante said this at the opening of FirstBank, Tamale branch, which attracted a strong presence of traditional rulers, religious leaders’ customers and people from all walks of lives.

Mr. Asante said formal banking penetration in the Northern Region remains under 40 percent, which indicate a significant untapped potential, hence in establishing a physical and strategic presence, FirstBank aims to support livelihoods, grow business and power the economic engine of the north.
“Tamale becomes an anchor to Northern Ghana and we are planting a seed with hopes of a long term partnership. Tamale is strategic with a huge unbanked population and this is an opportunity for inclusivity and bringing banking closer to the people,” he said.
Mr. Asante added that in prioritizing customer services, community engagement and locally relevant banking, several digital products are being rolled out by FirstBank Ghana.
“We offer credit facilities tailored to the unique needs of MSME, farmers and professionals, with repayment terms designed to align with local economic conditions, in addition, we provide competitive interest rates and features that support daily financial needs,” the MD stated.

A Non-Executive Director, FirstBank Ghana, Ms Rosie Ebe-ARTHUR, in a keynote address, expressed the gratitude of the bank especially for warmth accorded them saying; “FirstBank is making a bold and lasting statement that we are here not only to do business, but to becoming a long term development partner in the community.”
She added; “FirstBank is driven by a deep sense of purpose, a brand that is rooted in values, integrity, service, innovation and community impact.”
Ms Ebe-Arthur said through such move, they are creating new pathways for inclusion, access and opportunities for individuals, businesses and underserved community, by walking with them on journeys of progress and legacies building.
