“Electorates will decide for Tolon constituency based on our records” – Alhaji Habib Iddrisu

The ruling new patriotic party parliamentary candidate for Tolon constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu has stated that, the electorates in the constituency will decide who should be their next member of parliament in the upcoming December parliamentary polls based on the candidate’s track record.

According to him, the 2020 parliamentary polls in the Tolon constituency is unique in the sense that candidates for both the NPP and NDC  are vying for the first time hence the voters will judge them based on their records of achievements when their parties had the opportunity to serve the country.

Alhaji Habib made these remarks after formally filing his nomination at the Electoral Commission (EC) to contest the December 7th parliamentary elections in the Tolon constituency.

Alhaji Habib is expected to battle his main contender Yussif Adamu Naanyama of the National Democratic Congress.

He was accompanied by the Tolon District chief executive, Madam Barikisu Yakubu, Deputy national communication director of NPP, Haruna Mohammed, constituency executive chairman Demahami, among others. He handed his nomination form, a filing fee of GH¢10,000, and other relevant requirements to the district EC officer Benjamin Teye at the District EC office.

Addressing the media, the NPP PC indicated that the NDC candidate Yussif Adamu Naanyama has nothing to show in the constituency for the period his party had the opportunity to serve the country.

He said he has been able to meet the developmental needs of the constituents, key among which are lobbying for the construction of a school block at Yoggu, connecting several communities to the national grid and construction of a number of boreholes within the constituency, to address the water challenges in the area.

He said when it comes to track record, his achievements far outweighs that of Yussif Adamu Naanyama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“We will campaign on our track record because we are all new entrants into the constituency and my track outweighs that of NDC PC and he’s not ready to serve the people, because his party was in power for 8 years what has he done for the people in the constituency to seek their mandate ?”

Alhaji Habib also said he is ready to increase the vote margins to 4000 come December, saying he is working closely with both constituency executives and the incumbent MP to ensure the NPP retains the seat.
