Diamond Damba Festival (DDF) is an initiative of Diamond FM which started in 2017. The DDF lines up a number of activities each year to commemorate the annual traditional Damba festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of northern Ghana.
It started with blood donation exercise to the major hospitals in Tamale in its maiden year (2017). The event has become an annual affair and has since included other beneficial activities like the health insurance registration and renewal for the vulnerable, food items and consumables donation to widows and orphans, fun and socialization games for political parties and ‘rival tribes’ to fraternize and promote peaceful coexistence. The overall aim is to look beyond the festival by just dancing and making merry but to also take up roles that will impact the society positively after the celebration.
This year, the planning committee have delved into support for educational institutions by adding the donation of dual-desks to schools that lack it as part of the activities.
Donations are still being received and the activities for this year commences on 21st September, 2024 with the fun games at the Magnolia Recreational Center and ends on 24th September, 2024 with the blood donation exercise at the forecourt of Diamond FM, Nkrumah Voli Ni, at Industrial Area in Tamale.
