Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA) presents citation to Principal of Dabokpa Technical Institute

Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA) on Wednesday presented a citation to principal of Dabokpa Technical Institute Madam Mariama Mahama.

The presentation climaxed with their visit to the principal to commend her for uplifting the image of the school.

The citation read, “Madam Mariama, Principal of Dabokpa Technical Institute, Tamale. Madam Mariama Mahama, Principal of Dabokpa Technical Institute, Tamale, is a distinguished and Visionary educationist whose transformative leadership has elevated the institution to new heights.

Through her dedication, the Institute has introduced more than 20 innovative programs and pioneered practical industry-relevant training with the successful implementation of Competency-Based Training (CBT) and the establishment of a driving school benefiting over 300 students and community members.

Her tenure has brought remarkable infrastructural growth, including new multipurpose blocks housing various programs, modern computer and fashion laboratories, automotive workshops, and the acquisition of a 50-acre land for expansion. She has forged vital partnerships with industries, NGOs and private organizations, enriching students’ training and boosting Internally Generated Funds (IGF).

Madam Mahama’s leadership has also driven the manufacturing of practical innovations such as a mini-tractor for agricultural mechanization, fuel and electric tricycles (popularly called yellow-yellow), a smart food dryer, egg and neonatal incubators, among others; demonstrating her commitment to learning and problem-solving.

Dabokpa Technical Institute has gained national and regional acclaim under her guidance, winning multiple COTVET awards in automotive, garment design, consumer electronics and welding. The Institute has also excelled in competitions, including winning the Northern Zone SHS Renewable Energy Challenge, placing as 1* Runner-Up nationally; and achieving regional and national victories in the STEMNNOVATION competition.

Beyond these achievements, Madam Mahama champions female empowerment in TVET, inspiring young women to pursue technical education and leadership. Her unwavering commitment and outstanding achievements have left a lasting impact on the Institution and the wider community.
