Community Personel Assistants under the YEA Called on Government to expedite action in clearing their arrears

Community Personnel Assistants (CPs) under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the EastGonja municipality have called on government to expedite action in clearing the arrears of all CP who were affected  most especially the fifth batch

According to them, the delay in payment of allowances is affecting their lives as they have been left undecided on whether to quit or continue the service.

The East Gonja municipal local field commander, AbdulahiAlhassan, in an interview with Diamond News claimed that some of the CP personnel have not been paid for more than half a year and others are receiving irregular payments

He mentioned that several efforts for authorities to address their concern have not yielded any positive results

The local field commander speaking however denied a report that went on several network to suggest that they have threaten to resign if government failed to pay them their arrears, he explained further

‘’We never said we might be forced to resign following the failure of authorities to pay our their allowances because we have train as security personnel, neither do we say we will stage on demonstration because of our arrears ‘’

‘’All what we want is money, “as I’m talking right now those who came for the fifth batch have not received anything since they came from training and that is our main problem. Some of us too, those from the third and fourth batches, you see that this month the payment would come, the following month that person would not receive his or her payment, due to that some of our colleagues are even saying they have to stop work in order for the government to address their concern’’.

Meanwhile the east Gonja Municipal Director for Youth Employment Agency,Musah Mohammed Shafiq speaking on the issue disputed the claims by the community personnel Assistant, saying they always receive their allowances

‘’It is not true, they always received their allowances, is just that last month we received the fifth and fourth batch who did not get their allowances that one to is not up to one month which we are working to resolved.‘’
