The Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana, have given government October 31 deadline to pay all salary arrears owed over 42,000 teachers across the country or risk industrial actions.
CCT Ghana also cautioned the Director General of the Ghana Education Service not to them in a mandatory GES/SIC Life group insurance policy.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the 26th National Executive Council meeting in Tamale, the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana pledged their full support for the roll out of the double track intake SHS system.
President of CCT Ghana, King Ali Awudu also urged the GES to release results of applications for study leave with pay earlier before admissions are made by public universities to enable applicants not selected avoid applying for universities and sometimes paying fees.
The Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana urged the National Teaching council not to rush the teacher licensing policy but rather take on board the inputs of teacher unions for its smooth implementation.
A Deputy Minister of Education, Barbara Ayisi Acher, said the role of teachers cannot be underestimated in achieving quality education. She assured teachers of governments’ commitment in addressing their welfare.
She also admonished teachers to pursue further studies to enable them give out best in the classroom.
