The Chiefs and People of Chanzegu, a farming community of the Kumbungu District in the Northern Region, have strongly condemned the first national vice chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Sofo Azoka, for physically assaulting Alhaji Osman Masawudu NPP Third National Vice Chairman during the Akwatia by-election.

The community members in a statement cited what it described as an “unprovoked physical attack” on Alhaji Osman Masawudu, who is a native and royal of chanzegu community, carried out by Chief Sofo Azorka and his associates.

“This unfortunate act of violence is not only an affront to the dignity of the victim but also undermines the values of peace and respect,” the statement added.

The chanzegu community members thus called on the leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to, as a matter of agency, take immediate disciplinary action against chairman Sofo Azoka.

According to the statement, the recklessness of these actions must be properly investigated and ensure justice is served.
