Changli Police Brutality: Nabco CEO Clears Victims Hospital Bills with GHS8, 000

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central, Dr Ibrahim Anyars has call on angry residents of Changli community to remain calm and allow legal process to be followed to find justice for the victims.

Dr Ibrahim Anyars gave the advice when he donated GHS 8,000 for the payment of hospital bills for victims who sustained series of injuries during the police brutality in the community.

The Tamale Central NPP PC also supported the victims with twenty bags of sugar.

The Police in the Northern Region on Saturday dawn launched a severe attack on some residents of Changli in retaliation to an assault on a police officer who went to the community to arrest a suspect.

Several people were beaten and properties were also destroyed by the police raid in the area.

The Northern Region Reporter of TV Africa Baba Kamil also sustained injury as a result of the gunshots allegedly fired from the direction of the police personnel.

The police during their attack also shot a 21 years old lady who is currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).

Addressing the media after visiting the lady at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, the Chief Executive Officer of Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) indicated that it is prudent for residents of Changli to refrain from taking the law in to their own hands, and allow the legal process take place to find the bottom of the matter.

“When things like this happen, I don’t think it is the time for us to take matters in to our own hands. I think we should let legal process or lawful right process take place, and in the end the right things will be done. And so, there is no need for one to engage needless agitation over this matter”, he said.

“This is not politics, however, it will be shameful to some of us to hear this and do nothing about it. We are here to see what we can do to find justice to our brothers and sisters”, he stated.

Commenting on the fight against COVID-19 in the constituency, Dr Ibrahim Anyars explained that the health of the people within the Tamale Central constituency is his top most priority hence, he has distributed series of hand washing facilities across the constituency to help curb the spread of the deadly disease in the area.

He has however stressed the need for people living within the constituency to attach maximum importance to the spread of the COVID – 19 in the constituency.

In his short statement, the Northern Regional first vice chairman of NPP Alhaji Sunday however called on various traditional authorities within the Tamale Metropolis to discourage any person who intend doing politics on the Changli issue.

The Tamale Dakpema  Naa Fuseini Bawa at his palace commended the Tamale central NPP PC  and the first vice chairman of NPP Alhaji Sunday for their effort towards fining justice for the victims
