In his usual flamboyance, the Northern regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mohammed Bantima Samba has become the highest donor towards this year’s Diamond Damba Festival.
A powerful team from the “Chairman-talk-and-do” office stormed Diamond FM ostensibly to out do the many donors that have since supported the Diamond Damba Festival this year.
Led by the acting director of communication Mohammed Sharif and the regional youth organizer Alhassan Gana, Chairman Samba donated 50 cartons of milk, 50 cartons of Voltic mineral drinking water and 50 crates of Beta Malt.
The team also donated Ghc 5,000 to the management of Diamond FM to support other activities including the renewal of health insurance cards for orphans, widows and some elderly persons within the Tamale Metropolis.
The acting Northern regional director of communications Mohammed Sharif on behalf of Chairman Samba, commended management of Diamond FM for maintaining such initiative to ensure peace and cohesion among the various political parties within the Region.
“The media in the region particularly Diamond FM is a partner, not only for political communication in the region but they also ensure there is peace and cohesion among all political players within the Northern region, and it is Chairman Samba’s hope that this particular donation will go a long way to facility the program Diamond FM intend to organize”.
The acting communication director of the NPP also encouraged other political players and philanthropist within the region to donate to Diamond FM to ensure a successful exercise.
“On behalf of Chairman Samaba I encourage all other people, political players, business men and women, who find this worthy to make a donation to Diamond FM so that the program for this year will be successful”, he advised.
The annual event which is in its fourth season would see activities such as football matches between the Frafras and Dagaabas, Dagombas and the Moshies people, Gonjas and Kasinas and the various political parties in the region.
On Monday 25th October, 2021, Diamond FM will climax the Diamond Damba Festival with a blood donation exercise and registration of National Health Insurance Cards for some vulnerable widows, orphans and some elderly persons at the premises of Diamond FM.
The blood donation is aimed at assembling over 500 units of blood for the Tamale Teaching Hospital’s blood bank.
Management of Diamond FM is inviting listeners, various groups and associations to come in their numbers and support the initiative to save lives in the region.
