The Acting District Chief Executive of the Central Gonja District has distributed 43 motorbikes to assembly members within the district.
This is to aid them in the daily discharge of their duties.
The acting DCE Mustapha Mahama lamented that the district was plagued with poor road network and while they wait on central government to construct the roads as promised, assembly members should make use of the motorbikes.
Central Gonja District in the Savannah Region has forty-three electoral areas with majority being rural areas with poor road network hindering movement for assembly members and residents.
The Acting DCE, Hon Mustapha Mahama disclosed that the distribution of the motorbikes is part of a national exercise by government to give all assembly members motorbikes to aid in their work.
After signing documents for the motorbikes, each assembly member rode home a brand-new Supreme Star motorbike and a crush helmet for safety.
The assembly member of the Sankpala Electoral area, Hon Alhassan Niido in an interview lauded the decision to give assembly members motorbikes and described it as a timely intervention.
The assembly members are expected to use the brand-new Supreme Star Motorbikes for the next four years until the government procures new ones for them.
