Buipewura Jinapor II commends BOST for investing back in its operational communities

Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II has commended the efforts of some corporate institutions to invest parts of their revenues in localities where they are located.

Such attributes of giving back to the communities, the revered chief added have not only strengthened bonds and relationships, but has also helped in reducing frictions among the locals and such organizations.

The Bupiewura Jinapor said this when some management and staff of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST) led by the Manager for Corporate Social Responsibility at BOST, Yaw Antwi Dadzie paid a courtesy call on him at his palace at Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Savanna Region.

The interaction centred on the supply of 100,000 exercise books to 54 selected basic schools in BOST impacted communities namely Buipe, Savelugu, Walewale, Bolgatanga as well as Kumasi and Tema.

Buipewura Jinapor, stated: “apart from engaging some community members, which addresses livelihood concerns, it is worthy to note that some organizations go a step higher to providing resources to aid in the growth and development of their host communities.

He added that interventions from institutions like BOST have helped alleviate the plight of families and are worth commending.

The Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at BOST, Yaw Antwi Dadzie for his part, said education remain a priority investment for BOST saying: “some 50 brilliant, but needy tertiary students selected from their operational communities, eight out of the lot, from Buipe, are pursuing courses at the University of Mines, Tarkwa with full scholarships and other benefits from BOST.”

Earlier, the BOST team visited 16 basic schools in the Buipe area including the Buipe D/A Basic School, which received 2000 branded exercise books and a digital projector to facilitate the teaching of ICT. Each pupil will receive five branded exercise books.

Headteacher of Buipe D/A JHS, Hope Kwame Dogor who received the items on behalf of his school, commended BOST for the gesture saying it was timely and will also help with quality teaching and learning.
