Baba Abdul Rahaman donates football equipment worth over GH₵55,000 to support juvenile clubs in Northern Region

Black Stars left back Baba Abdul Rahaman  has donated football items worth over Gh₵55, 000 to the Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) to support juvenile clubs in the Sagnarigu Municipality (SMFA) and Tamale Metro Football Associations (TaMFA).

The items include 159 Footballs (3 balls each for each Juvenile Football Club in Tamale), 2 sets of bips and cones for each of the 52 Juvenile clubs,  and 20 Footballs to support NRFA Competitions.

He also supported the Women’s Division One Clubs in Northern Region with 10 footballs to facilitate their preparation towards the upcoming Women’s Division One League which kicks off this weekend.

The Chelsea player who is currently on loan at PAOK Thessaloniki FC in the Greek League also supported the NRFA, SMFA and the TaMFA with a cash amount of GH₵ 1,000 each to complement the logistical needs of their offices.

The former Black Satellites bronze medalist also supported the NRFA Referees Revolving Fund with an amount of Gh₵ 4,000 to facilitate their travels when the need arises. The fund was set up by the current chairman of NRFA Alhaj Abu Hassan Rhyzo to provide on-demand soft loans to referees in the Northern Region to travel to match venues for assignments throughout the country. The aim is for them to pay back when they receive officiating allowances from competition organizers so that others can benefit, hence the name, “referees revolving fund.”

This is not the first time the former Greuther Furth FC left back has made such a kind gesture as he did so the last time with his boyhood club Young Meteors FC and some other clubs in the Northern Region.

He promised to make similar donations in some other districts to help the football clubs in those areas develop their talents in the Northern Region.

“This is something small to support the Juvenile clubs in the region to help develop their talents. I am happy to see my coaches and the RFA working so hard to develop our players to join those of us plying our profession abroad”, he said.

Northern Regional Football Association chairman Alhaji Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzo thanked Baba Abdul Rahaman for coming to the aid of the Juvenile clubs at this particular time of the season. He called on other Northern based players who play their profession elsewhere abroad to emulate same.

The donation was done at the NRFA office on Monday in Tamale and was received by the hardworking NRFA chairman Alhaji Abu Hassan Mahamadu Ryzo on behalf of both SMFA and TMFA.

In attendance were coaches, club owners, NRFA Executive Committee members, NRFA working committee members among others.
