The Anbariya Sunni Community of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region, has dismissed allegations by Sheikh Ibrahim Basha, popularly called Sheikh Bayaan, that the leader of the Anbariya Sunni community Sheik Saeed Abubakari has incited an incessant attack on him within the Tamale Metropolis.
According to group, Sheikh Saeed Abubakar Zakaria is a peace-loving person who always called for peace and tolerance hence, it is not true he incited incessant attack on anybody within the metropolis therefore, people should disregard Sheikh Bayan claims.
Their statement comes after Sheikh Bayan during his weekly tafseer sermon on Friday June 24, 2022 accused the leader of Anbariyya Sunni community of inciting a gun man to attack him and his followers at the Bayan Mosque of the Tamale Metropolis.
The seasoned cleric who was not happy about the incident, encourage his followers to arm themselves in case of further attack.
However, the Anbariyya Sunni community in a press statement, described this encouragement as unacceptable and threat to the peace of the country.
“Sheikh Bayan in a video widely circulated on social media boldly admitted of receiving a donated weapons and encouraging his followers to arm themselves in readiness for war against Anbariyya, Its is not only unacceptable, but a major threat to the peace of the country and needs an urgent attention from the security agencies. We are yet to appreciate what would have influenced the seasoned cleric to carry out the unprovoked attacks.
General Secretary of the Anbariyya Sunni community Dr. Tamim Abubakar Saeed, who addressed the media on behalf of the group, said Anbariyya Sunni Community is an institution with a long-standing reputation of preaching peace, tolerance and social cohesion adding, the group is working closely with the security agencies and other stakeholders in maintaining peace and stability within the region.

RESPONSE TO A CIRCULATING VIDEO OF SHEIKH IBRAHIM BASHA (SHEIKH BAYAAN)
The attention of the Anbariya Sunni Community has been drawn to a video of Sheikh Ibrahim Basha, popularly known as Sheikh Bayaan. In the said video which is widely circulated in the social media, he accused the head of the Anbariya Sunni community Sheik Saeed (Afa Seidu) of an incessant attack on him and declared war on the community. We strongly refute the allegation and ask the general public to disregard the content and treat it with all the contempt it deserves. It must be established that, Sheikh Saeed Abubakar Zakaria has always called for peace and tolerance, and has resisted all temptations to respond to attacks, and has resolved to stick to the path of peace.
The bold admission of Sheikh Bayaan in the video of receiving donated weapons and encouraging his followers to arm themselves in readiness for war against Anbariya is not only unacceptable, but a major threat to the peace of the country and needs an urgent attention from the security agencies. We are yet to appreciate what would have influenced the seasoned cleric to carry out the unprovoked attacks. We find his actions dangerous with the potential of radicalizing the youth and destabilizing peace and stability currently enjoyed in the country. Anbariya Sunni Community is an institution with long-standing reputation of preaching peace, tolerance and social cohesion, and working closely with the security agencies and other stakeholders in maintaining peace and stability in the region. In respect of this position, we repeat our call for the security agencies to act swiftly on the issue to engender confidence in the citizens.
We call on our Chiefs, the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), the National Peace Council and all other stakeholders to swiftly take action in this regard and call the Sheikh to order. We also advise members of the Sunni community to remain calm and tolerate extreme provocations, as leadership works closely with the state agencies to address the issue. Allah says in the holy (Quran: 2:190) : “Do not be aggressive, Allah does not like the aggressors”, and the messenger of Allah peace be upon him says: “Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand his fellow Muslims are safe”.
We further urge the youth to channel their zeal into acquiring knowledge. This is the best way to defend the religion.
We wish to state that, the official position of Anbariya would also be communicated clearly on any issue of relevance, and therefore urge the public to deal with, and respect the official channels of the community.
Anbariya and its leadership will reecho here, that we are peaceful and peace loving; and shall continue as such.
We pray to Allah the Almighty to guide us all and to help us preserve the peace and stability that we are enjoying.
