Alhaji Baba Yakubu and Adam Habibu file to contest NPP primaries in Mion and Tamale North constituencies.

An NPP Parliamentary candidate hopeful Alhaji Baba Yakubu has promised to unseat the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament for the constituency if given the nod to lead the party into the 2020 general elections.

He said the Nana Addo led government is working hard to fulfil its promises to Ghanaians but the lackadaisical attitude of the NDC Member of Parliament Mohammed Abdul Aziz to championing development for the constituency make constituents still wallow in poverty.

Speaking to Diamond News shortly after submitting his nomination forms to contest in the upcoming primaries of the NPP, Alhaji Baba Yakubu told delegates that the time has come for the NPP to get a viable candidate to wrestle the Mion seat from the NDC.

He said his constant touch with the constituents makes him the right candidate to win the seat for the NPP for the first time and therefore urged delegates to make the right choice come September.

The Mion constituency elections Officer for the NPP Mahommed Yahuza said the primaries was an internal contest and aspirants must desist from heat speech and personal attacks.

Meanwhile, Adam Habibu has also submitted his forms to contest the NPP primaries in the Tamale North constituency.

He said job creation will be his major agenda if given the nod to lead the NPP into the 2020 general election and finally wins as the Member of Parliament for the Tamale North constituency which is currently held by the NDC.

Adam Habibu also opined that he is a grassroots person of the constituency and therefore understands better the challenges of the constituents and can proffer tangible solutions to the problems.

He said he is committed to improving the infrastructural needs and other social amenities to help improve the living conditions of the constituents.

Adam Habibu however advice his followers to shy away from violent campaigns since it is an internal contest.
