Akufo-Addo misinformed Ghanaians at SONA

Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused President Akufo-Addo of misinforming Ghanaians when he appeared before parliament for this year’s State of the Nation Address on Thursday.

The former president who took to twitter to make this revelation noted that the NPP government did not discover oil as Akufo-Addo claimed in his address, instead, the oil was discovered in 2013.

“The president put out a number of facts that were misinformed. An example is the claim that his Govt discovered oil. That discovery was by Hess in 2013,” he stated.

President Akufo-Addo in his address to parliament revealed that the NPP government discovered oil in 2007.

He further noted that “in eight years of NDC administration, 13 oil block deals were signed, and not a single one was developed. The first one signed in 2017, under my government, which was Aker, has led to the second biggest oil discovery in Africa”.
