Aid to Tamale Mayor admits that caterers under the school feeding program in Tamale were tasked to pay monies from their reimbursed fund for NPP activities

The special aid to MAYOR of Tamale, RAFIK ABU RAFIK has confirmed that, the Chief Executive of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, Iddrisu Musah Superior indeed directed all school feeding program of the Tamale metropolis to pay ten percent of their reimbursed funds to his office for party activities in the metropolis.

According to Abu Rafik, the school feeding caterers in Tamale, from January 28 this year, agreed to pay seven percent out of an initial ten percent from their reimbursed funds to a desk officer in charge of the school feeding program at the assembly.

 It would be recalled that on 11th March 2019, caterers under school feeding program in the northern region appealed to Government through Diamond News to intervene and halt any plans by his appointees to take ten percent from their reimbursed funds, which they claimed was proposed by the Mayor of Tamale Iddrisu Musah.

A pro-NPP group, the Youth movement for justices and growth also in a press statement raised similar issues and challenge the MAYOR of Tamale to pinpoint any party activities he ever supported with the said accruals from the caterers.

Reacting to all these concerns on Diamond fM, the aid to Tamale Mayor, however said such deductions were arrived at by the Mayor together with the caterers as a way of raising funds to support NPP activities. He explains how the seven percent deductions from their reimbursed funds were arrived at.

’We give them ten percent, but they came back and begged that it is too much for them. They want pay five percent, but MAYOR said he will make it seven percent, because it is necessary for him to support the party, so that was the agreement. I am not involved with the payment which is done through the desk officer in charge with school feeding program’’  Abu Rafik reacted.

He also denied the assertion by Youth movement Justice and growth of NPP, that the Mayor sold over priced contract to his own party people and challenged the accusers to come with evidence to back their claims.

Abu RafiK accused some faceless constituency executives of the NPP of financing the press conferences in an attempt to get the MAYOR of Tamale removed from office.
