6 BN DONATES TO VAG AND SHEKHINAH HOME
The 6 Infantry Battalion (6BN) as part of its Civil–Military Cooperation activities has donated assorted items to the Veteran Administration Ghana (VAG), Tamale and the Shekhinah Home for the Poor and Destitute on Thursday 18 December 2025.
The donation includes a cow, assorted drinks, water, bags of rice, maize, cooking oil, toiletries and an undisclosed amount of money to support the institutions.
The Commanding Officer (CO) 6BN, Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Yao Agbeko Ankuyi, in his remarks stated that beyond the execution of operational duties, military units have a responsibility to engage in civic initiatives that positively impact society.
He explained that the gesture, undertaken in the spirit of the Christmas festivities, was the modest contribution of the Battalion to supporting VAG and Shekhinah Home. He further encouraged corporate organisations and individuals to extend similar support to vulnerable institutions and commended the management of the Shekhinah Home for their selfless service to humanity.
Receiving the items, on behalf of VAG, Ex Senior Warrant Officer Class Two (Ex SWOII) Ajibtah Fidelis expressed gratitude to the CO and the entire Unit for the benevolence and timely delivery of items.
Also, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shekhinah Home for the Poor and Destitute, Madam Mariama Abdulai, extended her appreciation to the CO 6 Bn for the gesture. She described the Unit as a consistent supporter of the Home and disclosed that the facility currently feeds about 200 people daily, with over 30 residents permanently accommodated on the premises.
She added that the home also provides free medical services to the surrounding communities and appealed to the public to support its operations.
